November is almost here.  If you have your baby shower during the Thanksgiving season it works out well for planning a baby shower theme, decorations and supplies.   There are so many ways to tie in the Thanksgiving season to a fun baby shower theme.

Baby shower decorations can be purchased or created for the Thanksgiving season as well as cups, place settings and other items. The use of brown, gold, orange, red, black and yellow is festive for the November holiday season.

An idea to use as a theme is "giving thanks", by having everyone say what they are thankful for. It is also a great time to give by having everyone donate to a charity of less fortunate people, especially to a single mother or children's organization.

A cute baby shower idea is to have everyone sign a Thanksgiving theme board in the shape of a cornucopia, turkey, pilgrim, or with fall colors on the board) and give the parent's-to-be some ideas that would be helpful for them as they prepare for their little one.  If you don’t have a board you can place the messages in a keepsake box shaped or colored for fall/thanksgiving.   Have the mother-to-be (and/or father-to-be) read each message out loud as they take them out of the box.  Be sure to let everyone know that their messages will be read out loud.  This can make for a fun time depending on the messages being shared.

Symbolic candy, including candy corns, miniature pumpkin candies, and fall colored candy are great to place on tables.  Serving finger food out of Cornucopia's (a horn looking container that is symbolic of thanksgiving), and spreading colorful leaves and flowers (like sunflowers) on the tables is a nice touch.

The pumpkin theme is still cute and works for Thanksgiving as well as Halloween. Finding pumpkins that are symbolic of a mother, father and child is a cute idea. You an even decorate the pumpkins which is always a conversation piece.

Another cute idea is to buy pumpkins and place a smaller pumpkin in the larger hollowed-out pumpkin to symbolize the pregnancy! Dress the "mommy" pumpkin up for the baby shower and it will be sure to get some laughs from the guests!'

Food that you serve can also tie in like little finger food turkey sandwiches, ham, corn, cranberries/cranberry juice.   Use pumpkin spice candles or your favorite fall fragrance (you can put jar candles on a hot plate so there is no worries about burning candles.  The hotplate will warm up the candle and release the fragrance).

Baby shower decorations can be purchased or created for the Thanksgiving season as well as cups, place settings and other items. The use of brown, gold, orange, red, black and yellow is festive for the November season. Dried leaves can also be cleaned and used as decorations. Pass the baby pumpkin (like hot potato) can be played with a small pumpkin gourd which is less mess if it drops.

Wall decorations can also be Thanksgiving related by using pilgrims, pumpkin cut-outs, Indian feathers, turkey, and other fall symbols. Items can also be placed on tables for the shower guests to enjoy!

A fun baby shower game to play could be "guess the turkey in the oven's weight and date". Have everyone guess when the new addition will arrive  as well as the weight. The mom-to-be can relay who won by email, along with some pictures when the baby is born.

A great baby shower gift for the season is warm onesies and other clothing for winter or blankets, as it will start getting cold soon!

Happy Thanksgiving!
